I can receive emails fine. But when I attempt to forward an email TB tries using the wrong SMTP server, and an email address that no longer exists in any email account. For example, the email is in a yahoo account and TB tries using a gmail server. I have email accounts (in TB) with gmail, yahoo, rocketmail, AOl, and verizon.net. I have verified ALL server settings for each account as correct. I first experienced this in ver. 140.8.1esr(64-bit), and updating to 140.10.1esr (64-bit) did not resolve the issue.

Does a green lock icon mean a secure connection has been established?

Hi have various hotmail and live accounts already active in Thunderbird. Tonight, I tried to add a new hotmail account for my mom. The hotmail account is active and working well using the microsoft web browser.
I tried to add the new email to Thunderbird and in the first stage a green box with a checkmark appears " saying Configuration found in mozilla database.
IMAP box says: Incoming Imap SSL/TLS outlook.office365.com
Outgoing SMTP STARTTLS smtp-mail.outlook.com
username xxxxx.hotmail.com
I press done, and a yellow box appears saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password. Now I did notice on my other hotmail accounts in Thunderbird, the outgoing says: smtp.office365.com and NOT smtp-mail.outlook.com I tried making the new account exactly like my other 5 live/hotmail accounts. Outgoing> smtp.office365.com. And still no go. The new email addy won't connect.
So I thought, maybe it's a bad email or the way I created it. So I created a NEW hotmail email address and same thing. Followed all the steps and same yellow non connect error box appears. The setup in the picture is exactly like my other accounts - and they all work fine. Has anyone tried to add a hotmail addy recently? I never had these issues when I set up the other addresses 4 or 5 years ago. Thanks guys

I recently moved thunderbird from my Win 7 laptop to a new laptop with Win11. All was OK for awhile. One day all of my Local Folders were no longer in alphabetical order. Some folders, like Outbox are under Local Folders. Is there a fix? Please don’t tell me to uninstall and re-install.

I am running Version 140.10.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11 and would like to subscribe to my Calendar on Nextcloud. Yesterday, in Nextcloud, I set up an app-specific password and saved that to the Password Manager in Thunderbird. I also saved the app-specific password to my Bitwarden vault. The Calendar synced just fine.
However, today, when I booted up Thunderbird, it said that it needed the password for the Calendar. I entered it in, and then looked to see if the password was in the password manager; it was.
What's going on here and how do I fix it?

Good afternoon!
We use Thunderbird for our business across several computers. However, on the main computer, we've suddenly received blank tabs at the top of the page, as if an open email thread is there. There are about ten or so of these blank open tabs, and you cannot exit them. The X button doesn't work on them, nor does Ctrl + W.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and we've tried a shutting everything down and restarting the computer, but nothing seems to get rid of the tabs.
Is this an issue others have experienced and, if so, what's the best remedy for it?

After using Thunderbird without issue for several years, yesterday suddently it stopped receiving new emails. It seems like the connection times out. My internet service provider hasn't been able to help me, they guided me to change some settings but it hasn't worked. In the end they have said to just use their webmail, which I find difficult to use and disorienting.
Please help me get my Thunderbird back up and running.

Every so often I get an error message "Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors." I understand these if I am sending multiple large attachments as I am using Imap and the Sent folder is on the server. But I got it today with a simple pdf attachment. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this problem ?
