I suspect I am PH#€%ed. Am I eligible for a miracle?
S10+ 139.0.4 NOT set up to sync | see attached for specs
In the bookmarks toolbar, I have many folders. I had one named Reference and one named Research. A few weeks ago after a big update my bookmarks had somehow nested multiple copies nested weirdly.
I messaged for help through the Garg app store, and a developer said to please file a ticket with support. I MEANT to do it, but time got away, and I'd already cut the sync and done a lot of cleanup.
I'd removed this phone from sync (no SIM, no cellular connection for the last year, but I use it on Wifi—I carry it around a lot for note-taking when I get brain dumps from people).
I discovered two Reference folders— one in the Toolbar and one in Bookmarks. I moved the one in Bookmarks to the Toolbar, and then moved everything in it into the other Reference folder, which had more, figuring I'd go through and delete the dupes at some point.
I then deleted the empty Reference folder and got the question, "Are you sure you want to delete the selected items [you IDtenT]?"
I confidently clicked yes, not realising my stupid fat finger had clicked on the RESEARCH folder to delete.
I may be able to find some of it to sync or sneaker net from elsewhere but there were swathes of unique addresses in that damn folder. I tried to search bookmarks for the folder and then for any folder. I tried to search "Internal Storage" for any whisper, and Apps which I hardly have any read access to in the file tree without success.
I read the readme called Manage Bookmark Folders in Firefox, plus a couple of hours of additional readme reading and flailing... but I cannot find the answer to a short list of pertinent questions.
1. How does one search/find a bookmark FOLDER, a regular one, which some ahole hasn't deleted?
2. Don't the help articles mention an UNDO option when deleting individual tabs and bookmarks? Sorry, bit of a swivet, but is there an undo for folders? I found no such offering mentioned when deleting an entire folder. I'm assuming no, but... (this might be a good place to mention (while I'm headbanging my desk) that some *other* browsers contain a numeric in their deletion warning, rather than a ubiquitous "these items", whether it's an empty folder or full), hope will spring. Biat£#.
3. Third and final— is there any way for someone without access to costly forensic software to recover this data?
A lifetime of backup, backup, redundant backups is mocking me, so please don't laugh at my self-induced misery. If there's no remedy, give it to me straight.
TIA, Alex
