Hi,

two days ago, video embeds on Twitter stopped working in Firefox. Please help me troubleshoot the issue, so that I can either fix it myself, or present enough evidence to file a proper bug report.

Affected version: FF 140 ESR. I had some 140.7 installed when the error first happened, but have upgraded to firefox-esr_140.10.1esr-1_amd64 since. Didn't fix the problem. *Not* a snap package, regular .deb!

Affected OS: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, not a fresh install but upgraded from 24.04 instead (which itself was upgraded from 22.04).

Symptoms: Videos on X (and Facebook) no longer play, the preview image is there for a split second, then an error appears. Video on for example Youtube is fine, though. Local players like VLC also do work as expected. Video on X worked under 26.04 before this happened.

The issue likely started when removing surplus packages and metapackages from the upgrade. I of course tried re-installing these, but this also doesn't fix the problem.

On my journey of fixing this myself, I also asked the all-hallucinating knowledge randomizer frontend of OpenAI, which made me check a couple generic spots on my system and in FF itself.

-> ffmpeg is installed, version 8, av1 and hevc support seems present. The sparse advice from google results (similar thing in a Gentoo forum I think) on installating ffmpeg4.4 is no longer viable. --- apt list --installed | grep libavcodec

i have some problems with HDR settings on my firefox for mac when i watch a youtube video in the middle of video it kinda decrease the brightness or apply a gray filter on screen or something like that

Recently I formatted my pc and after reinstalling windows I immediately downloaded Firefox and synced my profile.

For some reason, videos on some (most websites) are not working at all. They just dont play, and these are websites that I used just last week on Firefox, and that I've tested on other browsers and work just fine. I've tried troubleshooting mode, new profile, deleting cache, etc, and nothing has worked. On some websites, I dont even see the player, its just blank, and in others I see the player but no playback (doesnt even seem to buffer).

YouTube works just fine strangely enough.

Hi, for some time now I've been having problems with Mozilla Firefox, nothing is heard in YouTube, I reinstalled it but still the same problem, in Google Chrome the sound works, what can I do? And this is from the latest update.

When I am in Google hangouts meeting and have anotehr tab open in the browser that is playing music (Youtube), the noise is audible to my hangout meeting attendees. This was never the case until an update of two ago. I do not have this issue with Chrome browser.

Whenever I try to watch videos on websites such as onlyfans youtube, etc., the videos will not play since I installed firefox. I have to shut my computer down and start it all up for them to play. I googled how to fix this and I need to go to settings and scroll to performance and uncheck use recommended performance settings and uncheck use hardware acceleration when available but I can't find this to uncheck these items. Can anybody help me? TIA

Fire fox is automatically playing videos/sound or both if I click on a tab that has that or also in facebook, etc. How do I stop this? I want to be able to click play when I want to hear/see something.

Since last update i'm unable to browse websites like youtube, social media and all other websites with video content. Video often fails to load,the wholewebsite is not loading, freezes while played or while exiting full screen mode. All of these freezes the browser - the site cannot be refreshed, links does not work. The only way is to close the tab with the freezed page or kill the Firefox process in windows Task Manager. Refreshing, re-installing, deleting or using different profile don't work. Same with add-ons. Seems like the issue lies within the browser and it started to appear since last update.

So as the title suggests, I have an odd issue, where audio from calls gradually pan around my headphones. It starts normally, but slowly goes towards the right ear, and eventually it starts moving back towards the center, but very muffled, as if something is simulating audio going behind my head, then left ear, then back center. This happens across different computers, OS's, audio interfaces, headphones, so the issue is highly likely to stem from within Firefox, although I'm not ruling anything out.

I've had this issue for probably years at this point, but I very rarely take calls (ie. Teams, Messenger, Discord), so it's never been the biggest issue, but now I have to regular do calls on Teams, and it's driving me slightly nuts. This does not happen while running the respective apps, but frankly, I'd rather not have to do that.

It seems to be related to WebRTC, but I can't find a specific setting that changes anything in that regard.
