I want an answer to my 1st question. Basically, every time firefox is updated (since 3.8) it causes more and more problems. I've tried so many anti virus programs in search of one that won't conflict with firefox but every one caused BOTH programs to have excessive page faults to the point where I have to restart firefox at least every half hour. I've tried everything on the help page titled " Firefox uses too much memory" and nothing helps. As soon as I start firefox, it starts eating up over 100,000k of memory according to Task Manager. The next highest process uses only 18k in comparison. At this moment, it is using over 226,000k just in the time it took me to type this. I don't know what else to try and restarting all the time is such a waste of time. Please help.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
