Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.

  • Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

I have lost the Navigation Bar, how can I bring it back?

If you have the Navigation Toolbar hidden you can use Ctrl+L to place the cursor into the Location bar which is normally on the Navigation bar.

If you have the Navigation Toolbar hidden you can unhide it via View ("Alt+V") > Toolbars > (checkmark) Navigation Toolbar

If you are in Full Screen mode (F11) you can use the above, or you can move the cursor up to the top of the screen to see your normal set of toolbars, or you can toggle back out of Full Screen mode with F11.

If you have the "AutoHide" extension you also have a Full Window mode ("zombie mode") similar to Full Screen mode but confined to the window borders which is

toggled by "Shift+F11" -- http://www.krickelkrackel.de/autohide/

You can make Firefox 6.0 look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 6.0, look like 3.6). Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.

There is a lot more beyond those first 10 steps listed, if you want to make Firefox more functional.
