Firefox 5.0.1 open a website automatically at a new tab from time to time which is very annoying
I have Firefox version 5.0.1 on MS windows XP. My problem is that Firefox open a website automatically at a new tab from time to time which is very annoying. I have scanned my computer for viruses and malwares using lot of programs but this did not fix this annoying problem.
The websites which automatically open are:
- http://www.netadfusion.info/r.php - http://www.humananatomycourse.com/ - http://www.lonelylonelylonely.com/
Any idea how to fix this problem?

this will stop and remove netcut and the redirect problem. I have tested this in vmware and I have emailed the guy who makes netcut and also posted this on cnet downloads.
no antivurs or malware program will pick it up i think it down to the activepacket.dll
this guy mentions the problem http://www.allmoreinfo.com/wow-netcut-defender-2-1-2-with-new-feature.html at the bottom

Network.http.redirection-limit has the default value which is 20. And my problem is not redirection problem, it is a website (http://www.netadfusion.info/r.php) which opens automatically in a new tab and not redirected from other website.

im telling you 100% its the fix for your problem if you installed netcut. I had this problem after installing netcut so i installed the program in vmware and ran a snapshot of before and after and those files are what netcut installs and when you unistall it it does not remove all of them.
yes it will open random tabs and windows but you should still be able to browse normal websites

DELETE ALL LINES IN USER.JS FILE
User.js file overriding preferences
Check and tell if its working.
@mha007
there is no USER.JS at the specified folder.

-> Create a New Profile
Basic Troubleshooting: Make a New Profile
-> Open Firefox using your New Profile -> click Firefox button and click Exit
-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode
-> Firefox Safe Mode window will open -> SELECT ALL OPTIONS & click MAKE CHANGES AND RESTART
Check and tell if its working.

I tried these steps but did not fix the issue too :(
DUMP your system :-P just kiddin'
I think this is the only way which will solve this annoying problem :)
I have just downloaded netcut defender and extracted all the files seems the owner has just updated the package on the 29/07/2011 so maybe the package was compromised and I could not find activepacket.dll in either netcur or winpcap.
Have you installed netcut? if so did the computer work before you did? then do a system restore to the day before
activepacket.dll is not a microsoft file so how did it get there and when you google the file there is little mention of this file.
anyway I think its the problem it was on my pc but good luck with it
Finally, I found a fix for that very very very annoying problem.
1- Download "Autoruns for Windows" from technet.microsoft.com website
2- Execute "autorunsc.exe"
3- And then the "autoruns.exe"
4- Go to "Winsock providers" tab
5- remove all entries which point to the "activepacket.dll"
6- Restart you computer
7- Congratulations; no annoying websites would open automatically again in your Firefox.
