Persisting Browser Data after closing browser
Everytime I restart my computer I lose all my bookmarks, extensions, and preferences I had before. I would rather not create a firefox account and sync. Is that the only way to persist this type of data?

You may want to check how many profiles you have and cleanup profiles you no longer use as you may have created a new profile each time you started Firefox.

This can happen if you haven't installed Firefox properly and run Firefox from the Disk Image (dmg) file.
Make sure you install Firefox properly and that you do not run Firefox from within the DMG (Disk Image) file.
Open the Firefox Disk Image file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
