As long as you are in range of a cellular network (1-5 bars at the top of your screen data-connection) you will be able to send and receive phone calls and messages. But for anything else, like web browsing, email or using maps, you'll need a data connection. Here's how to make sure you're always connected.

Turn on your data connection

Quickly toggle your data connection on or off from the notifications screen.

  1. Pull down the notifications tray from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the data connection icon to toggle it on (turns blue) or off (turns gray).

Note: The data connection icon will look different depending on what type of cellular network you are connected to.
Tip: Use the Cost Control app to check your usage and to notify you when you get close to your limit.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network

Data transferred over a Wi-Fi network doesn't count against your data plan and Wi-Fi networks are often faster. To connect to a Wi-Fi network:

  1. Open the SettingsSettings 1.3Settings 1.4Settings- 2.0 (small) app and choose Wi-Fi.
  2. Next, tap on the Wi-Fi button to turn it on and then tap an available network to connect to it.
    • If the network is secured, you will have to enter a password.
Note: When you connect to a Wi-Fi network for the first time, Firefox OS saves that network and your password and will connect to it automatically whenever you are in range.

Fix connection problems

If you see error messages such as Unable to connect or "Server not found when you try to visit a website, it's possible that you have no Internet connection.

  2. If the Wi-Fi or data connection are not blue, tap them to reconnect. This might take a few moments.
  3. Tap the Try again button to reload the page or app.

Clear the browser's cookies and stored data and try again

If you've verified that you have a Wi-Fi or data connection and you still get the Server not found error when trying to load a website, it could be an issue with the website itself. Clearing cookies and stored data may help.

This method will delete your saved passwords and preferences.
  1. Tap the Tab menu in the upper-right to open the browser sidebar.
  2. Tap the Gear button at the top to open the browser settings.
  3. Tap the Clear cookies and stored data button.
  4. Tap OK.
  5. Close the sidebar and tap Try Again in the browser to reload the site.
  1. Tap Settings Settings- 2.0 (small).
  2. Tap Browsing Privacy in the menu.
  3. Tap Clear browsing history, then Clear cookies and stored data.
  4. Close the sidebar and tap Try Again in the browser to reload the site.
