Hello there ed110 We have read your message. We try to help you.

Your subfolders are normally on your harddisk.

Sorry, but this doesn't help me at all because I couldn't locate the subfolders on my hard disk! Is there any other way to restore my folders. I am losing a lot of saved information. I tried to create new subfolders with the same names but it seems Thunderbird doesn't save them.

Thank you for trying to help. I tried to roll back to previous version by using the link you provided but it just gives me bunch of different versions which I don't know what to do with them! Strangely enough, when I go to the file drop down list and click on Subscribe, it shows me all the sub folders that I had with the option to subscribe to each sub folder. Once I do that and close and open again the Thunderbird, all the subfolders show up but just for a few seconds and disappear again. I think the last update really screwed up the Thunderbird!

Hello there again ed110.

Oké I saw your message back to us. What version of Thunderbird do you use at the moment and what version did you use d before you have had this issue going on with the subfolders on your pc at this moment? What was the update?

What kind of operating system do you use for this Thunderbird program?

It seems that my Thunderbird version is 102.4.1 (64.bit). It was auto updated just a few days ago and since then my subfolders have disappeared!

Hello there again ed110.

Oké that subfolder was it a subfolder or subfolders? The location of that folder was? Near your profile maps or somewhere down on the pc like the desktop view panel?

So you did had the version before the version that you had send me in the last text message? What version exactly did you had before this it was automatically updated ,oke good.

Was it the 102.40 version.? Oké i have got that version overhere.

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/102.4.0/releasenotes/

But instead to try to rollback into that version. I would like to see why the subfolder does appear at a glimp when you’ve had tried to check if all folder exactly are there!

Can I ask what was inside these subfolders? Do you still have the inside story of these maps somewhere?

The option is there to make a test map with the same initial s and see what happens drag the stuff to the new map?

It's subfolders. I had quite a few subfolders . They were all on desktop view panel. I am not sure what the previous version was before the update. But, I am assuming it was 102.40.

Hello there Ed 110.

I see oke. Yes the maps where on the desktop with your stuff inside it ,oke. Some times if your maps extrenly are on the desktop in this case. A software programm has to be reinstalled in this case a update of Thunderbird software.

The reinstalling software regonise the other parts of the program. And see them as a non-cooperative part. He can trie it to delete and overwrite it. Or remove and reselect the whole situation.

In this case the maps are not presented at the desktop place. So you might try to rewrite the maps with the same name s. Look what happens if you do?

Before going. Check your directories if the same names of that missing maps are somewhere there. also see in the rest of your pc if they are there? Go ahead.

I re-installed the TB and followed your instructions. The same problem still exists. The subfolder appear for a few second and the disappear again!

Oké where do you see these submaps if they are really present and where exactly? Is there still content in these submaps?

To try to use them in Thunderbird you have to agree them to use them in Thunderbird? Do I do good is this your intention?

Once you are going to Thunderbird the maps are there for a second no pop ups or messages? Of doing wrong things, it is there and after a few minutes they are gone. No back up or something of these maps are there in the Thunderbird software to use them?

After leaving Thunderbird the submaps are again there on a certain place. Am I correct?

So where do you find these maps again? Can I ask?

I go to file and click on subscribe and check all the subfolders and click subscribe and the OK. When I open the TB again, the subfolders show up for just a few seconds and disappear. This is very weird! The re-install didn't help either.

And since I don't get a chance to open up these subfolders, I don't know if there is any content in them. All I see the subfolders that I used to have are all there for me to select and subscribe.

Hell there ed110.

If the maps are still there but the content is missing after a update or reinstall or you’ve stopped the update and reconnect again.

You can click on the left over map on the desktop in this case. Because it is outside Thunderbird you can click on the maps and select restore previous version. Is this available on your pc ?

Where do I find the map?

To indentifie what is locking your subfolders or copied maps. You can use certain steps to find out. If you have the right to be the administrator on your pc. That means if you ask to workout these steps a message will come up and ask you. In this case it will ask you for a certain key for administrator use on that pc.

If you have these keys on your own pc then you can follow these instruction steps down here.

Open process explorer and run it with the administrator key if there is no key wanted, oke. On the toolbar you might find what the call a gunsight icon n the right. Drag that icone and drop it on the locked files or maps that are on the desktop left behind. I ment the maps that are locked.

The executable or software that is using and locking the file can be visible and can be highlighted in the process explorer s display.

Contact me after trying these steps.

Hello ther ed110.

The maps are the maps that are locked on your desktop? Left over from the update s from thunderbird. Like you have mentioned to us?

Or is the situation something else at this moment? Please send me a message.

This is getting too complicated. How do I re-install the previous version and hope that it would solve the problem?

Hello ther edd110

Oké good I understand.

Maybe it will be better that you send me some screenshots of the situation. If it s possible more then one shot.

So that I have enough space to find out how I can help you with this issue.

Read this text in this form that I have send you. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-screenshots

Here you go. Two screen shots attached. The strange thing is that I have another email account in the same TB which has all my subfolders intact.

more options

Hello ther ed110.

I have got the screenshots two of them yes oke. Oké the screenshots do not give me some further info or more space in this issue.

The only thing I know is almost nothing. After a update your submaps are gone. There are a few submaps on the desktop that are locked.oké. You can work as administrator to find out the situation to see what is causing the problem. On the other hand you can see these maps in a glimp of a second.oké In a another scenario there is a another email adress in Thunderbird what contains these maps ,submaps and they are intact. Simply check out what content these maps have if that’s possible of course.

Do you think we can go for a solution here? Ofcourse.

We will try to go there.

Can you open the submaps in that email adress? Where everything is intact. So you did not lost them completely, oke good.
