How can I stop Thunderbird from constantly asking if I want to compact my folders?

more options

Thunderbird constantly asking if I want to compact my folders is one of the most annoying features of this mail client. I have looked across the internet for a solution, but thos that I find all say . . ."Go to Tools > Options > Advanced > General, then click on Config Editor" Etc Etc This option does not seem to be available in the latest version I am running - ver 78.6.0 - so I am wondering if there is another way to do this in the version I have. Thanks Julia C

Hi Wayne - Thank you for your response. Thunderbird asks me this everytime I load it - and sometimes mrer often during a session, if I am manually deleting messages

So you marked the checkbox on the compact prompt, at "Remove message deletions automatically and do not ask me" ?

Hi Wayne No, I actually used the method I mentioned when posting the query - except that initially I could not find "config editor" - the path was slightly different to that described "everywhere" on the internet - and was: Tools > Options > General > Config Editor - and NOT Tools > Options > Advanced > General >Config Editor" as I found everywhere.

I know you said it was not a good idea - but it works, and the annoying pop-up no longer appears.

I thank you very much for responding to my query - it was really appreciated.

I do hope you are remaining safe & well in these troubled times, and that you had a very enjoyable Christmas. Kindest Regards Julia C.
