Hi Adam, the traditional "Master Password" is specific to each installation of Firefox and protects against physical access to your logins. There is no method of recovery because it's purely a local setting. That is different from your Firefox Account login, which is used for Sync. Please do not reset any passwords until someone more familiar with the interaction can explain what is safe to do (i.e., won't cause data loss).
