Am deleting a couple of my email accounts with another Internet provider. I was successful removing one account, but the other presents a different problem. In the Account Settings window, the account (name) in question is shown twice: once with the usual subfolders (Server Settings, etc), the other, with the same name shows "Junk Settings" and "Disc Space", only.

When I open the drop down menu for "Account Actions", the "Set as Default" and "Remove Account" are grayed. Also, the repeated, abbreviated email account is automatically highlighted when I open Account Settings.

I can click on the repeated (and highlighted) account name without anything happening, but if I try to select any other account name, the usual message of "An account with this name already exists...". This message also comes up if I select the two categories under the repeated account (Junk Settings and Disc Space).

Puzzling since removing the first account worked fine. I have closed and reopened Thunderbird with no difference in outcome.

Any ideas?

I think you have renamed the built-in Local Folders account - that's the one with fewer settings options. Please rename it back to Local Folders.

Decide which account you want to have as default, select it first and then see if you can set it as the default. I'm not sure but I don't think it's possible to set Local Folders as the default. The default account is about automatic selection of the address to use as the "from" address when you start writing a message and the Local Folders account doesn't have its own email address, so is not a suitable candidate.
