Bookmarks from folders have disappeared, I was just working on them yesterday and when I go to work on them today I find they've dissppeared.

Sorry, there is no telephone or IRC support options for support.

Try restoring a backup from before the time you were working on those folders. Your places data base may be corrupt or some data became lost. Firefox automatically saves 10 bookmark backup files, one of each of the past 10 days.

I keep an eye on the WinXP Task Manager CPU 'gauge' usage when rearranging bookmarks, and when the 'meter' is pegged I stop to let Firefox digest the changes I am making. Also, I use the Bookmarks Sidebar for working with bookmarks, like when moving a lot of them around. A holdover from IE5 & 6 and the earliest versions of Firefox - the pre-Places / pre-Library days.

It's me Again Apparently no matter what I do all my bookmark changes disappear, even if I make one change, they're not holding over I have to keep reloading Mondays saved file just to get everything back.

Did you try to delete the places.sqlite file?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

That was the first thing I tried. I should also say that about 90 percent of the work that i've done just disappears, I move certain links into folders the next day the folders are empty.

If it only happens the next day and not when you close and restart Firefox then it is likely that other (cleanup or security software) is causing this problem.

Considering this only started recently I doubt my Anti-Virus is causing the problem. I also just did a test with this site I bookmarked it moved it to a folder closed Firefox and the site has disappeared from the folder.

Battra, do you have a bookmark backup file from Sept. 20, 21 or 22? Try restoring from one of those. Because I think the monday backup is still also bad. Also I would copy any of the bookmark backup files made before Sept. 23 (since that is when you were working on the bookmarks) to another location for safe keeping. Since everyday you use Firefox a new bookmarks backup file is being made, slowly deleting your good backups by removing the oldest backup for every new day that passes.

After copying the bookmarks backups to a safe place, I would then delete the places.sqlite file while Firefox is closed. Also delete any places-number.sqlite file. Examples: places-1.sqlite, places-2.sqlite, etc. Now open Firefox and then restore the bookmarks with a backup from before 9/23/2013. Hopefully the changes made to your bookmarks from now on save permanently.

Also you're not being ignored, the people who help here are volunteers (including me) and not paid staff. They can only help you in their free time when they are not at their real jobs. So please keep that in mind.

Had to start Firefox in safe mode cause it kept crashing after i deleted the file. Now Fire fox Crashes every time I open it and I have to put it in safe mode just to use it, also it's not syncing with my iPad.

So is anyone actually willing to help with the new problem you created, preferably someone who actually knows what they're doing and responds to people when they have a problem, cause that remark about being ignored really seems to be coming true.

Everyone here is a volunteer, who may commitments beyond helping you, like their livelihood or their family. Posting here at 7 to 9 am CDT is the worst time to get support here, we have the fewest (or none) experienced support people here to do support during morning time in the USA. We do have support contributors who live in the EU and central Asia, but I don't know their schedules, we come and go each day as our other commitments allow.

You and cor-el were exchanging postings on the 26th until you "called it a night" and then came back the following morning and mentioned that you felt ignored; and then edited that posting 15 hours later.

Please give us a time when you are available, preferably not mornings in USA time zones, and we'll see about having one person work with you to help you solve this problem.

I am available most of the DAY in the US, and I edited that post cause cause yeah I originally posted that I was back on ready for help but, perhaps you should put relevant information like timezone and that your "volunteers" on the front page of the help section so when customers like me have a problem they know this. I can't read minds so I had absolutely no idea that people aren't around at certain times or that your volunteers. And absolutely no one else was around to help from Sat afternoon/evening to Today that could've possibly helped with my problem after i had given an update as to a new problem, and you wonder why I feel like i'm being ignored, and still no one has has even bothered to help with the follow up problem instead you come in here giving excuses as to why no one is around and yet by what you said considering it's not morning CDT anymore they're should be be someone around who is actually competent.
