I'm unable to update Thunderbird either from within the app (clicking on Help>About Thunderbird) or from the download website (which flashes an error message that says Thunderbird can't read the source file). I've attached images of the failure messages FYI. Please help me solve this problem.

This could be a Windows problem with the 'Protected folders' feature. Check for any notifications you may get and verify your Windows settings.
