why no fly out menus
I have recently run into this issue in Thunderbird Supernova. Some of the menus are flyout menus, but others are note. In Firefox one set of menus which would be so much quicker to use as flyout instead of having to click and then not be able to go back, are the menus accessed from the 3 parallel lines in the upper right of the screen.
What is the reason why FFox does not use a standard flyout menu like you find in all the windows menus that is so much easier and quicker to use? And is there a reason such a menu structure cannot be implemented for the item mentioned above?

The drop-down menu you see when you click the "3-bar" Firefox menu button is a panel and not a menu that opens automatically. Toolbar buttons that open a panel like the 3-bar menu button and the Library (bookshelf) button require you to click to open this panel and sub panels in it. There is the Bookmarks Menu button and the History button that you can drag out of the Customize palette to the toolbar that behave like a menu list.
I understand what you say, but what I am asking is why they cannot be made to be flyout menus that work so much more quickly. You could make the main menu that appears a panel, and then the other menus within that structure be flyouts. What is the argument against that?
Keep in mind that (desktop) Thunderbird is not just for Windows but also for macOS and Linux.
