When running previous FF V-90, (and all previous versions for years now) use of Corel Photo-Paint X4 was fine. Since updating FF to 107 (after a brief try of 115 which was fully uninstalled almost immediately) when I try to "cut" part of an image, although the rectangle tool shows during selection, it vanishes as soon as the mouse is stopped. The uploaded image shows the process - which ends up with the required result ---- it's just that the important part of "What I Have Selected" seems to have been nobbled by FF. Can anyone suggest anything please?

Thanks,

Ian

Hi

What happens when you have installed the latest version (version 115) of Firefox?

My understanding of Corel Photo-Paint is that it is completely independent of Firefox. What makes you believe that Firefox is causing this issue in Photo-Paint? Is the Corel package completely up to date?

Hi Paul,

I had the same difficulty with Corel PP from the moment I installed V-115) - also, for some unknown reason - every time I started FF, it automatically opened a link to BritBox.com (not doing that with v-107) - hence my reasoning to go backward. You are correct - Corel IS independent of any browser but, having run it successfully for the past goodness knows how many years - and then losing the "selection line" function immediately after installing a newer version of FF - I'd say it was pretty conclusive that FF is the trigger to a malfunction.

I wonder whether this is due to updating a shared file?

Windows applications may share certain system-related files that can be updated/replaced or removed/rolled back by other software installers. For example, installing or uninstalling some other software can cause an infamous problem in Firefox where it can't find the VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL file and therefore becomes nearly completely useless.

A possible fix would be to re-run the Corel installer after you update Firefox to see whether it repairs the problem -- and/or causes Firefox to malfunction.

Hi jscher2000 - Thanks for the suggestion, but I did that straight after the full uninstall of 115, then did the same after installing 107 - made no difference. I also experimented by installing a "sister-product" of Corel PP (Corel-Paint-Shop-Pro) - the "selection and cut" process of which functioned exactly as Corel PP has for a long time - until FF 115/107. FF-107 is performing well, and is now using my previous FF Profile too - but Corel problem is still there.

Encountering problems like this is why I "blocked" automatic updates on FF for such a long time.
