I copied my TB profile from the local drive on my laptop to a local (SMB) network drive in order to have it stored in a safer location, when I use the net profile with TB on the original PC (the laptop) everything works fine, I can copy the net profile back and forth to the local laptop profile, switch to the local profile and have access to all of my mail, calendar and contacts archives (about 20 years of data) also when traveling.

After copying and switching the active profile, TB takes a significantly longer time to start, TB is Not Responding for a few minutes, the status bar shows "Searching..." and several file are modified in background during this process, even if nothing is modified and no new mail is received or sent.

Now I'm trying to use the net profile from a desktop PC, to be sure the backup is readily available and because the desktop PC is far more practical in the office. TB seems to start normally from the desktop on the net profile but I'm completely locked out from the 'saved passwords' database. Just after started TB asks for the Primary Password, the gets locked in the Not Responding state described above, then starts asking for the Primary Password in a endless loop. When I click "Get Messages" for an account I'm asked for the Primary Password but again it's not accepted. When I go to settings I see there is a Primary Password but when I try to change it I get "Unable to change Primary Password". When I try to see "Saved Passwords" the Primary Password is not accepted and the table in Settings - Privacy and Security is empty. Of course there is no way to send or receive mail, neither to input the mailbox passwords every time.

Also, several extensions are not working.

Scanning the files in the net profile I found several absolute references to the local profile directory, many of them are somehow connected to extension, there are also profile directories of PCs I used years ago referenced; the same for mailboxes I used in the past and then removed.

Thunderbird: 102.2.1 (64-bit) Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 21H2 Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 21H2

Is there a way to make a Thunderbird profile on a network drive usable from different computers? (of course not concurrently)

Thank You
