I have 3 email addresses (2 are gmail addresses) that I have used in Thunderbird for years. My current version is 91.10.0. As of today, I cannot receive or send any new gmail emails through Thunderbird. I don't believe the "automatic update" converted my authentication method to OAuth2.0 because all three of my accounts still said "normal password". As suggested on your website I have tried to change the OAuth but when I go to Passwords I do NOT see "oauth://accounts.googlecom (https://mail.googlecom/)". I tried to delete the passwords and restarted Thunderbird several times but without success.

I get error messages "unable to authenticate to outgoing server. Please check the password." I have changed the password but again no success.

I have checked that cookies are turned on for all sites.

Do you have any ideas how I can correct the situation so I can receive and send emails again?

If it's your Gmail account, I had the same problem today.

1. Select the `Account Settings` menu item from the `Tools` menu.

2. Click on your Gmail account and choose `Server Settings`.

3. Change the `Authentication method` pop-up menu to `OAuth2`.

4. Click on your `Outgoing Server`. Click the `Edit` button and change the `Authentication method` pop-up menu to `OAuth2`.

That solved the problem for me.

Sorry but this didn't solve my problem. I had already done all the steps above (and checked them all again) but I still cannot send or receive any emails. I already have Thunderbird cookies enabled. I enabled Chrome cookies even though I don't use it. I think I have Firefox cookies enabled.

When I go to Preferences on Thunderbird under passwords "saved logins" I see my imap.googlemail accounts but they don't show `OAuth2` under the provider as I read somewhere that it should. I tried deleting the passwords but that didn't help either.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks Arandor - so far this worked for me to.

I seem to keep getting a message from Google that "Your browser has cookies disabled". As far as I can see my cookies on Firefox (my default browser) are enabled. I also enabled Chrome cookies even though I never use it.

Is there anyway I can know for sure if my cookies in Firefox are enabled?

Thanks
