Hi there,

I use the unified folders view since at least 10 years ago for my 14 e-mail addresses.

In recent updates (I would say at least since a year ago) I see configuration folders in the view, that to be honest, I do not think they should be there taken space of thunderbird interface.

I have never used them, and they are still there, I cannot find a way to remove these 14 folders from the interface. Is there any?

Best,

Carlos

Your screenshot doesn't help much, as it doesn't show what you're concerned about. What do you mean by 'configuration folders'?

Hi there, Thanks for your reply.

I mean everything that it is in the red area.

I did a composition on the way I think it should look like

I suggest you check settings for View>Folders. It may be that you have checked ALL as well as UNIFIED.

nop, All is unchecked

Okay, I still do not know what you mean by 'configuration folders.' You hid them in your first screenshot.

I mean, in the past thunderbird interface looked like a bit like this.

Note that I am using ubuntu KDE

You didn't post a screenshot. ?

Okay, I still don't see what you are calling 'configuration folders' that you do not want shown.

Oh, no animated gif is allowed. Ok maybe this picture?

You show what may be configuration folders, but since they all appear fuzzy, I still have no idea what your concern is.

That is correct, what I want to hide is those configuration folders. There is no need for them to appear there, as they are already in the section of edit/account setting. They are always there, and they have no use, nor they give any relevant information.

Why not post a screenshot of them so I'll know what you're talking about.

Exactly the same think that happened to this guy.

But I went throught the thread, but they are more centered in the type of account that this guy has (my accounts are IMAP) than in actually hiding those configuration folders.

You mean, why not posting the screenshots without bluring the e-mail addresses?

Just because of privacy concerns. I do not want to give spammers my e-mail addresses ;-)

Now I understand; you're referring to email account settings. To my knowledge, there is no way to hide them. And you need them if your accounts have specific folders other than the standard ones (e.g., inbox, sent, trash, draft, archive).

Hi there,

As mentioned, I do not remember having those email account settings there in the past. As mentioned, if I need to access to the account settings I always go through edit/account settings.

In my opinion, there is no need to have a link to the account settings for each of the e-mail addresses.

In the past, if you had an specific folder other than the standard ones (inbox, sent, trash, etc), you saw it there, without showing any other thing but that. Or maybe that is how I remember it. But maybe it is just me.

Anyway, either I cope with this, or I go to an old version of TB. Looks like I will cope with this. Just wanted to make sure that there was any option left to hide these as I usually like my space neat an clean.

Anyway, thanks for your reply. I hope this thread is useful for other people who are also looking for ways to remove this from the interface.

It is not possible. Move on or try with an old version.

Let's just say that, if it's possible, I have no idea how to do it. It's possible for POP, but not IMAP that I can see. Good luck.

It is a pity that we cannot hide the "account setting" folders. For people like me with multiple e-mail addresses, using the "unified view" is a problem. I have 15 e-mail addresses, and thus, I got 15 "account setting" folders when using a unified view. There is no use of these "account setting" folders, as anyone can access those settings from the settings menu. They have no use apart from occupying space on the screen.
