Address lookup is incredibly slow.
When I start typing an address in a new email, it hangs and can take up to 30 seconds to start finding the address. I have an Imac running Thunderbird 68.12.1 (64-bit) and have compressed the Global indexes

Under Preferences/Composition/Addressing, is the Directory Server box checked, in addition to Local Address Books? Unless you use LDAP address books, it should be unchecked.
