78.2.2 not getting new messages
Had auto update overnight, all accounts showing & all folders and old email BUT no new messages are loading.

Can send -with error not saving - still not receiving.
Can you add a screenshot from the error console (press in the same time these 3 buttons on your keyboard when you are on Thunderbird: Ctrl-Shift-J)?

OK here you go
OK, that window show some errors indeed. To be sure we are looking at the right errors please delete all (you have a delete button on top-left corner) and after that press get mail and also try to send an email. After that open again error console and post again here a screenshot.
OK done that - Error screen is blank - no errors !
I don't find something related to those error - so I'll return to last picture (mail sent but not saved) - that could means that there is a problem communicating with the IMAP e-mail server. Check to make sure that the e-mail server settings in Thunderbird are what your e-mail provider says they should be. You might post here your Thunderbird Troubleshooting information, then we might can see if you are using the correct settings: At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button (or use the regular menu at the top), then select Help: Troubleshooting Information. Click the "Copy text to clipboard" button. Do not check the box "Include account names" Then paste (Ctrl-V), the text into your response here. We only need to see the sections down to and including the "Extensions" section, so you can delete the rest.

You don't have any recently dated prefs-<number>.js files, correct?
And you tried something like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1662799#c2 ?
I don't see anything in the error console that should cause a problem.
OK tried that suggestion, no difference, no new mail since 17 Sep ( when upgraded ).
I see there some accounts set with STARTTLS and others with SSL - can you try to change to all of them from that to "None"? I assume one of them (at least) have issue and that might stop rest of the accounts...
Just as an info: I will actually set each of them one-by-one and after it is set I will try to get mail specific for that account (and so on for all of them).

I should add that all the exact same accounts with same settings are still working perfectly on my laptop where I have stopped the latest TB upgrade.
The update to TB 78 has increased the minimum requirements of TLS to 1.2. Many mail servers are still using unsafe protocols/security option and that's why setting "none" (or general for that profile and so for all accounts on Config Editor... security.tls.version.min to 1) work on TB 78. These 2 options (none/1) should be though considered as a temporary solutions and you should contact those email service provider(s) to update their security on the mail servers. TLS 1.1 or 1.0 are deprecated... :(

Yes, that is expected. You will want to inform your mail providers that they are two years out of date in supporting TLS 1.2 and higher!
Did you determine why there are multiple prefs-xx files?
No I still have those multiple prefs on my laptop & mail works perfectly.
Hostgator also informs me that the TLS is 1.2

Nearly all All my emails are with hostgator, some are now working some are not.
Out of 15 accounts 2 are not hostgator 1 is aol which has now started working the other is hosted else where
All accounts are now working with Security set at None
