Unable to Download New Messages for Months
Hi,
I have been trying to login to my Thunderbird account for quite a while however keep on getting the same error message - 'Sending of password for user ************** did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - Please try again later.'
I have been trying again later for weeks now using the right password so surely there is something wrong? It can't just be a matter of 'trying again later'?
I'd really appreciate some help with this - thanks so much!

go to account settings and change the authentication method to oAuth. It will probably be set to normal password. Yahoo don't allow that anymore without you jumping through hoops on their web site.

I have had this problem, but the option for authentication method is oAuth2, which yahoo says it does not support. Any thoughts?
Anne, have you tried selecting oAuth2 anyway - this is what I did and it worked no problem.

Yes, it comes up with the error message "The server does not support the selected authentication method" and asks me to change the method but doesn't say to what...
I'm stuck with the same problem as Anne. I tried changing my Yahoo password and then using the same password for Thunderbird, but no luck. It did however allow my iPhone to get new messages. I have not been able to get any messages on my pc for more than 24 hours.
