All of a sudden my Thurnderbird will not open. I have been using it for several years -- no problem.
Thunderbird is still listed on my active files in Windows 10, but will not open.

Please say more details about how you are opening TB, and exactly what happens when you do.
Have you tried - from a desktop icon (shortcut), from the icons on the toolbar at the bottom of the page, and from All Programs?
If you search for thunderbird.exe - do you find more than one? If you click on those .exe files what happens?
