I can't start up and have to reinstall my Linux and I would like to save my emails from Thunderbird. I can still access the disk partition from a Live session. From what directory and what files should I copy and how can I restore them after that in a newly installed system? Any other known method?

Backup the entire Thunderbird profile folder. That should be a .thunderbird directory inside your home directory.

Thanks for your help, it was great! I have separate data partition and my whole Home folder is there, so I couldn't find the Thunderbird profile on Linux system partition. Finally I was searching for abook.mab file and found it.
