Thunderbird opens but doesn't display anything and can't access menus
Hello, Issue started today. Windows 7 (64-bit) Thunderbird 68.4.1 (64-bit). Opened Thunderbird this morning and It will open but nothing is displayed. The inbox panel is blank and left column showing accounts is blank. If I go to Tools>account settings" nothing will open. In fact, none of the menus items I click on produce any action or open any window. I tried to roll back to previous version and the same thing. I deleted windows cache of profile and deleted Parent.lock as well as other temp files as some community documents suggested with no luck. In addition, tried opening Thunderbird in safe mode and the same thing displays. It seems my profile is loading. If I go to the task bar and hover new email icon it will preview new email in the inbox. See attached screen shot. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You!

TB sometimes loses the location of the profile after an update. Try this simple step first, as it sometimes restores normal operation.
Open TB, Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder, close TB. Delete global-messages-db.sqlite. Restart TB. Any difference?

You should make a backup of your mail, inbox, sent, draft, all, then uninstall it delete all files and registry. Try again, check if it work and then import your backup.
I saw you sreenshot, its not loading the account.
Hope it helps
Hello, Thank you for the reply. Can you clarify what exactly in the registry I should be deleting?
Well, a good uninstaller should clear all the entries, but most of the time they don't, you should check
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\Mail] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Thunderbird]
The last one is the main one, the second one is just the default mail client.

Hi sfhowes, The thing is I can't click on any of the menu items. I can open the menus, but If I go to click on "help/Troubleshooting" nothing happens.
Open the profile folder without first opening TB by opening this location:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\8charstring.default
AppData is hidden by default.
