Hi Fellow Foxes,

About a week ago I noticed that Google had reverted to it's old layout (picture attached) on my iPad. I'm using iPadOS 13.2.2 and Firefox 20.0 (16437).

I found a discussion from 2014 on the Apple forums where folks experienced the same thing,

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6511273

but nothing discussed there helped me fix the issue. My other searches yielded questions from people who want to 'revert back' to the old Google layout, so I haven't really been able to locate anything that might help me get the modern Google layout back.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you clear the Firefox Caches? Clear browsing history in Firefox for iOS

Thanks for suggesting that. Unfortunately, the old Google layout is still there, even after I cleared out my cache.

Curiously, after the old Google layout appeared, Youtube wouldn't let me play videos in full screen mode anymore. It now gives me the error message, "Your browser does not support full screen."

I don't know if this helps, but instead of simply showing the URL "http://www.google.com", the old Google layout has as URL that reads as follows: http://www.google.com/#spf=1573771404116

So, I guess this is a bit of mystery so far.

I am not able to reproduce it with the identical iPadOS 13.2.2 version. Youtube plays videos in fullscreen just fine. Google just the latest search layout.

Does it also show the "old Google Layout" in iOS Safari? One thing I have noticed is that you are using a previous Firefox build 16437. I am running Firefox for iOS 20.1 16561. Please double check your version.

Thanks for pointing that out. Just to be double sure, I updated to Firefox for iOS 20.1 16561. Alas, the old google layout is still there.

I then went ahead and deleted/re-installed Firefox for iOS back to the latest version (20.1 16561), and unfortunately the old goolge layout is still there.

It's a bit strange, actually. It's almost like my Firefox Google Homepage has stepped into some weird late 90's time warp. ;)

It wouldn't be so bad, but the limited Youtube functionality has me using Safari instead of Firefox, and if I can't find a fix, I may just switch over to Safari or Chrome.

If anyone has experience with this, or can help, please respond. Come on fellow foxes, one of your own needs your help!

This looks like a bigger bug than expected. Someone also mentioned your issue, too. The Firefox User Agent is causing wrong version of Google and Youtube to be loaded.

There are 2 bug reports on github:

Thanks for keeping me updated.

It's good to know this isn't an isolated incident! I've been using Safari for a few weeks now, but I would love to get Firefox working properly again.
