I have the same problem as described in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1230294

I have installed the Provider for Google Calendar add-on and done the following steps:

1. Right-click -> Add calendar 2. Chose On the Network 3. Chose Google Calendar 4. Entered my gmail address 5. Logged in to Google account in the popup 6. Approved permission for Provider for Google Calendar

Then I get no further as the list of calendars to subscribe to is empty (screen shot attached).

The discussion in the archived question mentioned old calendars that needed deleting but I don't have such.

I can add that I also cannot connect Thunderbird to Gmail using OAuth authentication. So there might a general problem communicating with Google.

This is fixed in TB 68.2.1 for gmail IMAP accounts, but for earlier versions, apply the workaround mentioned here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1592407#c22

Tools/Options(Mac:Preferences; Linux:Edit/Preferences)/Advanced/General/Config. editor, double-click general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to true.

This should also fix google calendar and contact sync. in 68.2.1 until updated Provider and gcontactsync add-ons are released.

Thanks! That did it. I use a package installed Thunderbird in Ubuntu 18.04, so I'm considerably behind 68.2.1, I should probably find a PPA with a more up to date version.

Updated gdata provider add-on is available.

I have updated Thunderbird to 68 and got updates to Lightning and Google calendar provider. Everything works just fine now!
