are you using the dark theme? Lost of folks hard code the colour of their text in email to black. Black on black would appear to be blank.

Pop or Imap mail account?
Try repairing index: Right click on Inbox and select 'Properties' click on 'repair folder' button click on OK
Tried that before and it doesn't solve the problem
