Lightning extension has to be disabled/re-enabled when going between platforms

I use Thunderbird Portable with the Lightning extension. I go between my home system and my work system on a daily basis.

At home I have a Windows 7 Dell Optiplex.

At my last employer I had a Windows 10 Dell laptop. I was able to launch Thunderbird on either machine and Lightning would be there with no issues.

My new employer has provided me with a Windows 10 Lenovo ThinkPad, and I can't get Lightning to show up on both machines like before. What I have to do is disable Lightning while running on any platform (and it doesn't matter whether it's working properly at that time), then restart Thunderbird on the machine I want to work on, re-enable Lightning, and then restart Thunderbird again.

It works, but it sure isn't pretty.

Any suggestions on how I can get the same kind of 'plug and play' performance using the Lenovo that I had with the Dell?
