Is there any way to fix a corrupted calendar database file (local.sqlite)?

Thunderbird crashes immediately after I start it. After a lot of investigation, I've narrowed it down to a problem with the Lightning data file local.sqlite. If I rename that file to something else so Thunderbird/Lightning can't find it, Thunderbird and Lightning run fine....except of course all my calendar entries are gone.

Is there any way to fix that file, or at least display the file contents so I can recreate the calendar entries manually?
