I use Attach File almost every day when using gmail so I know the problem is very new. The Attach File button does nothing. The Attach Photo and Attach Link buttons work. I was updated to 57 early this morning. I use Dell Inspiron 5749 and Windows 7.

Whether or not these two are connected, do you have a suggestion? I have restarted and refreshed as much as I know.

Thank you.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:

In Firefox 54 and below:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

In Firefox 55 and above:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the General panel.
  3. Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.

  4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.

Thank you for detailed suggestions. I tried all of them. Attach File in gmail does not work. I have looked at gmail help and did not find a solution for me. Seems I am not alone with this problem.

Since last writing, I have another new problem. Whenever I click on a link, it doesn't work and the message reads something like grrr looks like you have popup blocker. Sometimes I can right click to open in new tab. I do not have anything added to firefox except Adblocker Ultimate. I searched the computer for popup/pop up blocker and the setting is to not block, and no other files show up.

Have any ideas? Adblocker is not new and I have had same Norton for years.

Thank you.

You can still try to disable Adblocker Ultimate to see if that has effect.

Maybe this clears some other problem(s) as well.

I tried System Restore to an earlier time before 57. My problems are solved. I have changed from auto update to Ask Me. Firefox menu shows 56.0.2 but says Restart to Update. Does that mean update to 57? It seems 57 update is downloaded but not installed. How to prevent 57?

I do not like to be pushed into an update with many changes and possible problems.

I can remember another thing on my computer trying its best to push its "upgrade 10" on me. That was a battle, too.

Please help.
