Version 52 AddOn incompatiblilty

Why I waited so long to install Thunderbird, I don't know. The point is, I'm pretty sure I'm running the latest version as of this posting: v52.3.0

A great deal of the addons via the manager inform me they are incompatible with my version. Being new to TB, is it advisable to try them anyway? I'd use a bit of common sense and not run anything that modifies the taskbar for instance. But I'd like to have some more flexibility with filters (I want to "play a sound" option).

While I'm here, is there a Mozilla Support general forum?

You can try using an addon which may not specify it works with the current version. If it doesn't work or you start to get things not working as expected in Thunderbird, then you can always remove the addon if it is causing a conflict.

Addons are maintained by the person who created them and are not the responsibilty of Thunderbird. However, Lightning is now incorporated into thunderbird and so would be checked for compatibility to ensure it continues to function.

Relative to looking for a general forum: Damn if I missed the "All Products" forum - exactly what I was looking for. Already got a Lightning post about my eyesight. Guess it shows.
