I want to find a way to password protect or encrypt the folder(s) where all of my locally stored messages are saved in Thunderbird. Does anyone know the easiest way to do this? In Outlook there was a feature where I could set a password to access the email. In other words I need to make it so that if someone wants to read my messages that are stored in the computer, they have to enter a password.

Sure, use the user account provided by your operating system. They encrypt everything for you and password protect everything as well.

Hi. Thank you for this response. Unfortunately I can't see where I can do this. Are you referring to my Microsoft Account? I also set up Bitlocker, but that doesn't seem to help. Once into my computer through the password (regular log in, not bitlocker) anything is up for grabs.

Well, yes, you have identified yourself, it's your computer, your login, your data, so you can see it all. What else should happen?
