First off, I love Mozillla. Enough to try and solve this issue rather than just using another browser.

But it is starting to eat up my time. I got a bunch of spyware yesterday and have spent hours removing it all. I think I have cleaned my computer now.

But Firefox will crash on each and every page with flash on it. I have read a bunch of issues but nothing works.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and Submit.

Yes I tried running it in safe mode & the problem persisted... I think that is the info you are after...

So I am still having the problem.

Thanks for that Fred.

It started happening before I installed Kapersky, so that's not it. [disabled it anyway to double-check]

I updated Adobe aIr/shockwave/flash [previously air wasn't at the latest version]

I have disabled hardware acceleration [and that might have done the trick - I am not sure why it didn't work when I tried to do that before]

I am updating the latest video drivers now. [I only checked that a few months back but it does in fact look like they are out of date]

I have to go to bed soon. Hope this is fixed soon as it is really affecting my productivity. :(

  • fingers crossed but it does appear okay now*

Over the last few months, several plugins were updated. Some, like flash, were updated several times in that same period.

Use this link to check that your plugins are up-to-date. If any are listed as unknown or research, do not worry about them.

Okay I have done most|all things suggested on this page. It's happening less, but it still crashes now and then. I'm noticing it especially with embedded videos. Mainly because I am doing an online course, so that's what I need this fixed for.

Fred, Checked that link, It says Flash, Java & quicktime are all up-to-date. However I see there are TWO entries for Java.

However I see there are TWO entries for Java.

Are these labeled the same (other than the version number)?

I disabled the Java that gave me the warning, now only one shows up in the list of up-to-date plugins...

Thank you for the picture. You have two Shockwave for Director.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Ah-ha.

Thank you very much Fred. :-)

Yes, I have uninstalled them (both, I think) and reinstalled one. I only have one in the list of plugins now.

Firefox has speeded back up to normal, so I have a strong hunch this has solved my problem. It used to load flash pages very slowly while I was experiencing this problem (even if it didn't crash, it was slow).

I'll let you know tomorrow for sure... Good night, and thanks once again! Leslie.
