Firefox freezes my Dell Vista when online, Opera doesn't. Forces me to restart computer. Started a couple weeks ago.
Seems like you guys did something to firefox, which was working fine. A couple weeks ago I think you updated it to work with Windows 10, or Cell phones or whatever. With all this extra overhead, my system has slowed down, and now freezes when Firefox is open. I only have 2 or 3 pages open. Yahoo mail and ebay and maybe you tube. This does NOT happen with OPERA. Opera ALSO updated for whatever reason, and all the extra overhead slows it down somewhat, but it doesn't freeze. I have to hold in the power button to restart my system. This is getting aggravating. It seems the longer I'm on Firefox, the more apt it is to freeze. I have two email adresses and use one through Firefox. I would like to clear this up or I have to go back to GOOGLE, or IE, neither of which I like. thanks, J.M.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
Don't want to run in safe mode. If all other browsers work in normal mode, then the problem is not with my system. I reset to defaults, and it froze twice yesterday. I'm moving to a new i7 Dell I got off ebay. We'll see if the problem is still there. Thanks for the help.
Safe Mode is used for troubleshooting, you don't have to run it constantly. It would indicate if an add-on or bad settings are the issue. Old profiles also become bloated and decrepit over time, which causes performance issues.
I've found Opera better in this regard, as performance does not seem to decline over time and consecutive updates.
If you move to a new computer with a new Firefox installation and new profile, you will also reset your settings and add-ons. Essentially Safe Mode, but more akin to a Refresh: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings.
