Eliminate continuing/annoying pop up for Flash Install - How?
Just tried to switch to Firefox from Safari - How do I get rid of a recurring pop-up that asks if I want to install Flash to view content on the web site I just tried to visit. I have popups blocked in Preferences.
This may cause me to stop using Firefox as I don't want Flash on my computer - because of continuous requests to store unknown information on my computer.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In the old Firefox 30 version that you appear to be using, you can toggle the plugins.notifyMissingFlash pref to false on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Please update to the current Firefox 39.0 release.

It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest versions to get all security fixes.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop

Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install or update Firefox.

Could you give an example of a page that does this? For example, does Adobe's test page cause this message to appear:
https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Also, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any difference?
Adobe's test page causes the message to appear. In safe mode the message still appears.

Thanks for your help - also updated to a more recent version of Firefox.
