Can not delete messages in inbox. How do I fix?

Can not delete inbox messages. Tried the instructions on the fix but did not fix the problem. I uninstalled thunderbird and reinstalled.

That did not help.

You mean that the Delete button does nothing at all? Try the File button and move messages to trash. I have had others tell me that the File button worked where the Delete button did not.
