For a while, my Firefox was going painfully slow compared to Chromium in the same system.

I recently uninstalled some Firefox Extensions and bam! I was surprised at how fast my Firefox was! And still is! Excellent!

But, I would like to find out which extension it was that was slowing it down.

Is there a way to do that, please?

A log of the extension uninstallation, perhaps? Some data from Firefox Sync, perhaps? Anything?

The only thing that comes to mind is leftover preferences. These get left behind when uninstalling add-ons.

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
  2. Press the big button to bypass the warning.
  3. In the search bar, type extensions.
  4. Most add-on preferences will be listed in the search results, as extensions.addonname.preferencename. Add-ons may not necessarily follow this naming convention; you may have to clear the search box, sort the list by the Status column and look through the preferences with a status of "user set".

Thank you, Gingerbread Man.

There are too many extensions there—this is a veteran profile.

I require to know which extensions were uninstalled recently.

Did you ever create a backup of the extension.json file?

Current Firefox releases uses the extensions.json file, so if you still have the extensions.sqlite file then you can try to check its content with the SQLite Manager to see if you can find the extensions listed in that file.

Another possibility could be to check the history for visited pages on the Mozilla Add-ons website to see if that gives any clues abut extensions that you have installed in the past.

Thanks, cor-el.

I'm not so keen on performing a forensic investigation.

I've suggested this.
