How can I change the Firefox backgroudcolour from paperwhite to something else? It is annoying because the white background makes it difficult to see certain boxes etc. (including the box I am typing this question in..)
The background of my firefox page is paperwhite. it makes it hard to find certain boxes to type thing ion, answer questions in forms etcetera. How do I change this setting?

Firefox has a configuration file you can use to override web page styles. This gives you more fine-tuned control than settings in the Colors dialog. However, this does involve a little manual file editing. More specifically, you need to create the file userContent.css and add a style rule to it.
What color do you want for your background? It will need to be encoded into a numeric value. You can use this color picker for the most common web colors, but of course it is possible to choose a more subtle color in between as well.

Did you check this setting?
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

You can use the NoSquint extension to set font sizes (text/page zoom) and text colors on web pages.
