Firefox crashes after a new install Wont Open

I used firefox with this pc, and for reasons I don't recall, uninstalled it a few years ago. I am trying to reinstall it, but it keeps failing. uninstalled and/or deleted all references to firefox from the hard drive and dowloaded Firefox Setup Stub 45.0.1. Not sure if this is important, but I still show Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 (x86 en-us) in my programs and features list. It won't let me delete or uninstall it. When I run the install, it appears to run without problem, but crashes when it opens. Crash ID: bp-ed9111e3-b8fa-41e8-9859-9362f2160331. hi, unfortunately this crash may be caused by websense endpoint security software that is running on a device. in case your computer is part of a managed enterprise environment, please get in contact with your it department about this issue again. more information is available in bug 1181091.

in a larger enterprise using the extended support release (esr) version of firefox, which receives security updates but feature updates only once every 10 months, might also be a better option compatibility-wise: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

I did try the esr, but it didn't work. Very frustrating, because I did run Firefox on this machine before. I guess it's possible my employer has stepped up security. Any other thoughts would be welcomed.
