Photo Galleries won't work on USA Today website.
When attempting to look at photo galleries on USA Today the forward and backward arrows do not appear. Directly selecting certain photos does not work either.
I have the same problem with SeaMonkey.
Using Mac with OSX 10.11

Problem solved. I hope it lasts.
Started with all add-ons disabled. Site worked fine. Removed a few rarely used add-ons but still had issue. Decided to disable each add-on 1 by 1.
Luckily they are in alphabetical order. Removed Adblock Edge and problem was gone.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains. You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions" Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
You can check the log in the Web Console for error messages and the Network Monitor (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to see if content fails to load or is possibly blocked.
Use Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.
Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
sotos,
Thanks for the response, but seeing the photos (at least the 1st one) is not the issue. They just won't forward as the selection arrows don't appear. The same in Seamonkey.
They do work properly in Safari and Opera (photos will forward and backward) but my preferred browsers are FF and SM.
Can you give a link directly to a page that has this problem?
We had a thread recently about not being able to move through a slideshow on HGTV.com which may be a similar issue: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1095201
I've had 2 requests for a problem site/link.
Here is one:
Plug-ins are up to date.
The arrows only appear if I hover the image area with the mouse.
Images are hosted on www.gannett-cdn.com.

Do you see the images in Tools > Page Info > Media?
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
Thank you for the example site link.
I use the NoScript extension, which by default blocks advertising and tracking scripts. The only way I can get that slider to work is if I allow scripts from the following sites to run (there may be others, but at least these 3):
If you use any add-ons or external filters that might block advertising-related sites, that could be the issue. Maybe sites are using this strategy to discourage ad blocking?

There are many variations of Adblock, and another popular ad blocker is uBlock. You probably can find a way to make it compatible with most sites if you find life without an ad blocker too annoying!
