Please make sure you get updated to 57.0.4 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version as it has security fixes for : http://money.cnn.com/2018/01/04/technology/spectre-meltdown-cpu-flaws-explainer/index.html

Phones/laptops/everything with a chip needs updating, look for INTEL or AMD patches next week.

You can click the cogwheel button in the top right corner to select what to show on the new tab page or the home page.

You can disable the Activity Stream design and revert to the earlier design by setting this pref to false.

• browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled

For the home page you can disable the Activity Stream design by setting this pref to false on the about:config page.

• browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
