All 'Top Sites' bookmarks gone. Again. AGAIN.

What is the major malfunction here? Why is it every major update you have to delete ALL of my 'Top Sites' and add your own? I just want to open the page and use the bookmarks that I want to use. I don't want Google, I don't want Imgur, I don't want what sites YOU want to put on my top sites which are sites I don't even visit. I found 'Recommended by Pocket', 'Highlights', and 'Snippets' turned back on and I'm getting sick of it. Stop forcing YOUR options on us and let US choose what WE want Firefox to do.

And like in my last thread the last time this happened, is it WAY too much to ask that you reintroduce the 'drag and drop' feature to add bookmarks to the 'Top Sites' list? This thing of having to press two separate buttons and then actually TYPE everything in is counter intuitive and inefficient.

Seriously starting to think I should switch to Chrome... or maybe IE.

Hi cujoe_da_man, it sounds like the prefs.js file that stores your pinned sites list, new tab page layout, and various other settings, might not have made the migration. Sorry about that. Were any other settings lost?

Profiles Changes in Firefox 67

Firefox 67 introduced a new profile named default-release and this has caused confusion on some systems. To explore that possible explanation further:

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. Each will show links to a pair of folders; please ignore those for now.

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Anyway, please do not delete anything here -- don't use any Remove buttons.

Do you have another profile named default or default-longnumber listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress in recovering the earlier settings?
