Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

You'll probably have to use a different PC to download those programs, if Norton and Microsoft are blocked by Malware chances are that all those other links are also blocked.

Hi, Having come to the same conclusion myself, I had a "fun" day yesterday. I did download from another computer and install on the offending laptop. the problem is that the virus checker then wanted to connect to its website to download the latest updates / patterns etc. and it can't scan before doing this. This it couldn't do because of the virus. I got in touch with Norton online support. They were absolutely brilliant. Watching Norton's dioagnostics (on the other machine that did have Norton installed) it appeared this was probably a relatively new virus, that only 12 other people in the Norton community had encountered . Norton support took over my machine and after well over an hour's work had it fixed. I really can't praise their support and customer service enough. They were brilliant. So the problem is fixed. Thanks to everyone for your help.
