Gmail has invisibly become my default in FF 3.6.3 even though I never specified this. And in Tools/Option there is no GMail choice to delete and I have indicated Outlook Express which is also my operating system (XP) default

I already tried. I also tried to use os default. I still get gmail... it is like it has been invisibly hijacked... I have even tried a couple of add-ons to override but so far, no luck.

The Google Toolbar Add-On seems to override this setting in Tools/Options/Applications and so you need to disable this setting in the Add-On options.

Go to Tools/Add-Ons/Extensions and select Options on "Google Toolbar for Firefox". Under the "Search" tab in the "Web-browsing tools" section, un-check the "Use Google Mail for "Mail To" links" box and then you'll be freed from Gmail's clutches.

Didn't Microsoft used to get into trouble for this kind of thing...
