Firefox tabs repeatedly crashing, unusable at present

more options

I'm trying to diagnose what exactly has gone wrong here, but I am at a loss.

Here is one of my many crashes, this one from safe mode.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/1deb735a-b518-40c5-9528-94b1b0180201

Almost all of them are EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ, EXEC or WRITE. This is a new motherboard, CPU and RAM, so I'm not ruling out a hardware issue. I have tried pulling out individual memory sticks and moving them to different slots with no change in behavior. Issue does not affect Chrome or IE. I tried the beta after I was having issues with the main release. If this crash report has a smoking gun point at my hardware, I'd love the assist on reading it.

By unusable I mean about 60% of the tabs crash and once they start crashing, that percentage seems to increase.

That's a lot of crashes.

Thank you for the crash report ID. If you click the "More Reports" link on the first line of the table ("Signature") it shows more crashes with Firefox 57.0.4 and Windows 7, so it isn't isolated to Windows 10 or Beta.

As a sanity check on a settings/data issue, you could:

Create a new Firefox profile

A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.

Start up in the Profile Manager using the Windows Run dialog (Windows key + R) or the system search box:

firefox.exe -P

Don't delete anything here!

Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.

Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like TEST2018, and skip the option to relocate the profile folder. After creating the profile, select it and start Firefox in that profile.

Is it any more stable?

When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.
