I accidentally blocked remote content from a certain sender and now I can't find any way of showing it. I have made sure the permissions.default.image setting is set to 1. I have included the website in the allow remote content list but the content is still blocked. Once you click away the yellow banner, is there no way of getting it back?

I accidentally blocked remote content from a certain sender

How did you do that?

When you open an email, there's a yellow banner across the top of the message that says, "To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message." There's an Options button on the right of the banner and an X to close it. I clicked the X by mistake and now the remote content in that message is blocked and I need it. There's no way of getting the yellow banner back to allow remote content. So how do I get the remote content back in that message. I have the URL of the sender in the trusted list, and all new messages from that sender shows the remote content, but Thunderbird still blocks the remote content in the one message where I need it.

I don't know if that will help, but you can give it a try. Open the troubled message. View - Message Body As - Plain Text

Then switch back to HTML View. View - Message Body As - Original HTML

Yes, I tried that already. It didn't work. I guess this is a bug in Thunderbird 52.5.2. I'll have to wait until they fix it in a future update. I just noticed that the sender attached a PDF file of the email that contains the information I need. But in the meantime, be careful about closing that yellow banner too quickly. Once you do, you're out of luck as you can never get it back. Thanks for your attempt to help.

How about Tools|Options|Privacy|Mail Content→Exceptions ?

Yes, I have the sender's URL in the list and marked as "Allow." Still nothing.
