Create New Folder not working.

Is this a common Firefox issue? When I go to create a New Folder when creating a bookmark I start to type the name of the folder and then Firefox creates a folder named the first letter I typed. I am then forced to click on the incorrectly named folder to change it to what I originally intended to name it.

Yesterday I wound up uninstalling Firefox and all references to it under my user profile as well as anything I found in Program Files and Program Files X86. I re-installed Firefox and the less than handful of extensions that I use, testing each one along the way. I sync'd my bookmarks and the problem returned. I found I have the same issue on now a second computer that I have. Is there an issue with Sync that causes this bug?

Thank you for your replies.

That shouldn't happen. Something is taking the focus away from the panel or dialog, so Firefox is ending the edit prematurely. Problem is that it's difficult to figure out what is causing that.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?
