I work in the software development industry and have a random question. We do a lot of cross browser testing at my company and I was wondering if there are any actual differences between the exact same Firefox version on windows 10 vs windows 7? A question has come up whether we should begin to test Firefox on both windows 10 machines and windows 7 machines...if the underlying browsers code is the same? I know some OS elements are OS dependent like how fonts load or maybe some ui elements like dropdowns or checkboxes...but overall should the experience be the same?

You download the same program regardless, but there are some differences between those systems. Many programs check their systems and adjust to what is running them.

There certainly are theming differences related to the user interface. Differences related to content may be difficult to tease out and might be just a few visual things. If you aren't seeing a higher proportion of complaints for Windows 10 users than Windows 7 users, it's probably not significant for your application. But keep an eye on touchscreen users; that is far more common with Windows 8+ than with Windows 7.
