ActiveSync email with Office365 is not downloading any messages
Trying to setup work account. Seems to accept login info and all the folders are showing but no messages ever download. Inbox appears empty. My non-expert theory is that it is due to ActiveSync policies (requiring PIN and disk encryption) are not enforced by the OS so the server is not downloading the messages.
Outlook (Hotmail) account works perfectly.
Currently on Wi-Fi.
OS V2..1 on ZTE Open C.
Thanks

Hi sujitdmello,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues accessing your work's EAS account with PIN + Disk Encryption requirements.
I am not aware that the Mail application supports PIN + Disk Encryption. I opened bug 1089384 to track this issue.
Thanks,
- Ralph
Thanks Ralph.
Is there any way to generate a log that will help confirm this policy issue?

Hi, I work on the email app. See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Gaia/Email/RequiredBugInfo for some info on how to capture a logcat (which then would be ideally attached to the bug).
We haven't done any work with supporting required security policies, so it's not immediately obvious if that would explain what you're seeing or not. Firefox OS currently does not support disk encryption or a way to surface to apps that they're running in a context with a PIN and disk encryption, so it would be some time before we could support such a mechanism. Unfortunately you may need to stick to webmail where things like directives not to cache content will be obeyed and security properties hopefully maintained.
Sent log via private message. I don't know for a fact that this is due to policies - I am just making an educated guess :).
Thanks
Sujit
Thanks for the log; I updated the bug with the relevant excerpt. Unfortunately it's not particularly enlightening. Two useful questions if you could answer:
- When you say you're making an educated guess, are you guessing that the server uses such a policy, or do you know it uses the policy but are guessing that's the problem?
- Do you know what version of Exchange the server is using? If you connect to the server with Firefox devtools with the network tab open it should probably be in the headers returned.
1. I know that it requires it by policy. When I add the account to my Windows Phone it forces me to setup a PIN immediately. But that does not happen on the FireFox phone. 2. Exchange Server 2014 I think.
